Information regarding City Codes and Variances
+ When do I need to fill out a building permit? - When do I need to fill out a building permit?

You will need to submit a building permit at City Hall for any out door construction, such as sidewalks, driveways, patios/decks, garages, garden sheds and any new construction.

+ Do I need a permit for my fire pit/chiminea? - Do I need a permit for my fire pit/chiminea?

Yes, you do need to submiting a burn permit to City Hall.  You can print a permit off of the "forms" tab or pick one up at City Hall.

+ Does my burn permit expire? - Does my burn permit expire?

You only have to fill out another burn permit if you move to a different address in the town.

+ Do I need to license my dog with City Hall? - Do I need to license my dog with City Hall?

Yes, you do.  It's is $10 for a non spayed/neutered dog and $5 for a spayed/neutered dog along with an update rabies record from your vet. You will get a tag with and ID # to put on the your dogs collar.

Cats do not need to be licensed.

+ How do I hook up utilities at my new address? - How do I hook up utilities at my new address?

Very simple!  Come to City Hall, 513 Main Street.  You will need $175.00 deposit, of which $150.00 is refundable after 12 months of no delinquent bill, and a photo ID. 

+ How much will my utility bill be per month? - How much will my utility bill be per month?

The total amount you will owe for your utility bill will depend upon your energy usage during any given month. 

+ Where can I call after office hours if I have an electrical outage or water leak? - Where can I call after office hours if I have an electrical outage or water leak?

You can call either the City Shop or Light Plant after hours and you will be connected to the "on call" employees.

+ When does garbage get picked up? - When does garbage get picked up?

Garbage gets picks up very early on Wednesday morning.  We encourage you to set out your trash can on Tuesday night, making sure it is set away from the curb and cars so that the garbage truck can grab the can with the hydraulic arm to dump the can.  Anything not in the garbage can will NOT be picked up.

+ Does Mapleton have recycling? - Does Mapleton have recycling?

Yes, we have green recycling bins on 5th St, east side of Fiesta Grocery Store.

+ What options do I have to pay my utilitiy bill? - What options do I have to pay my utilitiy bill?

The City of Mapleton excepts cash and/or checks for utility payments.  Automatic deduction is also available from any local bank.

+ Can I pay my Mapleton Communication bill at City Hall? - Can I pay my Mapleton Communication bill at City Hall?

Yes, you can.  You can mail or drop off your payments in person or in the drop box to the right of the front door.

+ What options do I have to pay my Mapleton Communications bill? - What options do I have to pay my Mapleton Communications bill?

We accept cash, check, or debit card.  You can also call in to make a payment for Communications.

+ Can I set up budget bill for my utility bill? - Can I set up budget bill for my utility bill?

Yes, you can.  A budget billing is an average of your past utilities so you can plan on paying the same amont each month. Budget bills are reviewed twice a year to adjust as needed.
